Yeah. I agree Dorian was probablly updated due to the BMP which features the White Mantle.
And keep in mind, since NPC armor all comes in one piece and you can't have conflicts with mixed sets, its significantly easier to redesign NPC armor.

I do believe it was more or less for the newb, low-levels, who don't have a "good Domination build to roll right over those priests..."
Even when I was running that M+B for people, the priests themselves weren't too difficult (JB minion bomb, SS, dual attunement fire spike), it was when I got to Josso Essher that things really got interesting.
WoH spam each other much?
I eventually ended up not being able to kill the priest before the 2-minute mark, so the rest of his squad got resurrected. Not really a big problem, I could handle healing through all that damage and I eventually downed everything and got my minion bomb running again, but otherwise it's just a pain in the ass, especially for less experienced players.

It's also supposed to be done before you even hit level 20 the way the game's story line is designed. Throw in the lack of heroes for anyone without Eye of the North or NF and I can see justifying toning them down a bit.
I did this during the weekend right after the buff was put in and didn't really notice a problem. I did mess up at the monk boss, but that was more of a pulling issue than not being able to take down the monk boss/priest combo. But then I had my tank and 3 heroes to play with (I was dragging a new Dervish on my other account through the missions to ascend her in Proph. for the 50k exp. pt bonus...6th was a ranger hench I think).

"Death attribute will completely disappear from all parties". If you didn't notice yet, Minion masters are still the strongest things in PvE, because there's always a lot of monsters dying. You can't make me believe that those 2-3 pets really made a difference.
Pets dying is something completely different from people dying. Pets dying have no big effect, since they're only a way to deal damage, and are not able to do anything useful bar dealing damage. You just resurrect them in 1 second with a 10e skill. So saying "next henchmen will be able to be exploited" is retarded.
Also, as far as I know, monsters can't use our pet corpses either.

Has anyone noticed the updated calls yet? Like when you control-click your stance/shout/enchantment/effect etc. It now says stuff like:
"My stance is Flail!" instead of "I have Flail on me!"
and
"I am under the effect of ...!"
I think that's pretty cool! And somewhat clearer as well. I like it. ^^

I dont think pets ever made the MMs build..it was always bonus corpses..especially in areas lacking corpses..and yeah change build before you go out doesnt always work out that way..eg going from one explorable area to other ...totally different creatures(skeletons).
the issue i think quite a few have is that an untamed wolf leaves a exploitable corpse but a tamed one doesnt..
i can only see pets now good for full Beastmaster or someone that likes to display there pets like a trophy.

I was about to post asking about this! I had Cynn in my group while vanquishing in Prophecies just now and I kept hearing female Assassin(?) noises. Took me a while to find out who was making it...

Hooray, it's not just me then!
And you're right, it's the female assassin 'grunt'. I'd not played either my assassin or para for a bit so wasn't sure.
Please Anet, sort it out. I've had to turn my sound down.

The issue of pets will be discussed for quite some time, its a little strange that after 3years they would change such a long standing mechanic.
It seams to me that Anet does not want any class other than rangers using pets. Every nerf to pet skill and now this latest nerf to thier corpses means that only a ranger with 15 in beastmastery can efficiently use a pet at all.
Why the pet hate???

As for the update, I'm quite happy with the new ctrl+click hexes/conditions/enchants/etc. descriptions. Makes things much more clearer.

EDIT: Misread the actual update, though it said that they reverted it back to the way it was. And then they said that is was a bug that you couldn't anymore.

Umm how do you know they did? If you've ever programed before/talked to programers, you know that changing one thing often can influence something completely unrelated by accident.

It was a bug because it allowed the pets corpse to still be exploitable after they specifically removed the exploitability of pet corpses.

It came AFTER pet corpses weren't exploitable, as said by ANET. Therefore, when this update came out, it makes sense.

Point is that function was NEVER a bug. they are making it one after 3 years suddenly and with no reasoning for it other then it was some inconsequential rant in PvP... why then is this unjustly effecting PvE players then AGAIN? Every time WE have to pay for some dumb idea Anets gets in their mind because of a perceived unbalance in PvP. Its been there for 3 years if it was so why now? when the game is basically dead? With no further updates planed and no expansions intended. Just false hope that they may throw us a bone someday after GW2 is live...
PvE players are sick of having to pay the price of PvP elitists attitudes and ranting because they can not find a build to counter a fundamental dynamic of the game since day one, Almost 3 years later and hundreds of skills added to the game? That is not OUR fault so why then do WE have to pay that price EVERY TIME??? And now we get censored for expressing our anger over it. Fine I just give up. Like I said in my original post. mark my words. this is only the beginning... It will not stop at just pets. it will spread to other classes as well. There is ALWAYS a superior build to everyone. There is no 1 attribute that is overpowered. If there is something that is getting over used. Present a legitimate counter to it. Don't go nerfing Fundamental facts to the game and punishing people for no reason... Heck Making charm animal PvE only would be fine, Making a new Well or spirit that prevents exploiting corpses at all would have been better... Any counter skill is always preferable to a nerf of a skill. Though there are already enough counters that people just do not include in the build of the month mania that PvP has become of late.
Good nerfs were things like the AoE fixes, The PvE only skills so they will not be ever again effected by PvP prejudice. Reduced range of some area effects and spirit spamming. These were all things that were not only acceptable but expected... This is nothing but pure Spite. Nothing more, nothing less. they are doing it to stir up trouble in the community and get people angry. Guess what? Its working.
